Kaia Watkins-Martin, MA (she/her) PhD Student in Counselling Psychology

Change often begins with recognizing that you want something to be different. If you’re here, you’ve already taken a meaningful first step in that direction. You may be feeling stuck or unlike yourself; carrying worry or sadness; struggling in your relationships; moving through grief or a period of change; or finding that the same difficulties keep showing up despite your efforts to change them. Sometimes, there is no clear problem to name – only a persistent sense that something is not quite right. Whatever brings you to therapy, I’m glad you’ve chosen to reach out, and I look forward to working together toward whatever growth or change matters most to you.

My style is warm, collaborative, and direct. Together, we’ll work to make sense of what you’re experiencing, understand the experiences and patterns that may be shaping your life, and clarify what you would like to change. I believe therapy should offer both insight and action: a deeper sense of why things are the way they are, alongside opportunities to practice new ways of responding to difficult thoughts, emotions, and situations.

My hope is to help you better understand yourself, feel more capable when life feels difficult, and make choices that feel more aligned with the life you want.

My approach is integrative and tailored to each client’s needs, incorporating techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and other evidence-based approaches.

I work with adults across the lifespan and offer therapy in both English and French. I am a doctoral candidate nearing completion of my PhD in Counselling Psychology at McGill University. Outside of work, I’m happiest spending time with my children, reading a good novel, listening to a podcast, and taking long walks outdoors.
