Judith Norton, R.N., Ph.D.

I am a licensed psychologist with the Order of Psychologists of Quebec and a registered nurse with the Order of Nurses of Quebec.

Seeking help takes courage. Looking for a caring therapist that will listen to you without judgment is the first step towards change. Together we can explore what is impeding your growth and help you make the changes necessary for you to live the life to which you aspire.

I have been in private practice for over ten years and use a variety of therapeutic approaches including CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and EMDR. My goal is to use the approach that is most beneficial to each individual client.

Having also worked as a nurse for many years, my career has always focused on helping people who are in some form of pain or discomfort. I believe that genuine care for another person’s pain is essential and curative.

I also provide clinical supervision to other Psychologists and Counsellors, and I have had the great pleasure of teaching at McGill for many years. I have done workshops and have led and co-led process groups. Personally I am the mother of three and the grandmother of four as well. I enjoy downhill skiing, golf and a thirty-year passion for genealogical research.

Shawna Atkins, Ph.D.

I am a licensed psychologist with the Order of Psychologists of Quebec.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you to discover your potential, resilience and inner strength. I have had the privilege of accompanying hundreds of people along their unique path toward healing, and together we can find ways ways to move you through and beyond your struggles as well. Whether these be in your relationships or your career, feeling anxious or afraid, down and lost or disconnected from your feelings. We can work together to get you grounded, understand your feelings, and make changes to live a more meaningful life.

I have been practicing for over 30 years in community, university and hospital settings. I work with adults in both individual and couple counselling. I treat a variety of psychological concerns and specialize in eating disorder treatment, selfinjury, crisis intervention and the recovery of abuse and trauma. I use a combination of CBT, EFT, DBT, Interpersonal Neurobiology and EMDR.

I have the pleasure of teaching part time at McGill University; I provide supervision and training workshops for clinicians at university and in the community and I continue to pursue research with my colleagues at McGill University.

I take my ongoing professional development seriously and I will collaboratively share my experience and knowledge with you.

I have been married for over 25 years and I have two wonderful daughters.  I discovered the benefits of yoga and meditation many years ago and practice regularly. I also love to spend time with my family, cooking, cross country skiing and kayaking.

All of us struggle at times and we do not need to struggle alone. Whether you are suffering from depression, anxiety, a recent loss of a loved one, family/relationship challenges, sexuality issues, trauma, or stress, I will be gentle, non-judgmental and authentic as TOGETHER WE explore your concerns and FOCUS ON HELPING you NEGOTIATE the changes you want to make in your life.

I work from an Integrative therapeutic approach primarily based on Psychodynamic, Emotion-Focused, Humanistic & Experiential therapy models with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy as an adjunct to therapy. I believe that each individual’s needs are unique and I will cater my approach to your needs in order to guide you through your change process. I believe that we are always evolving and so I take opportunities for ongoing training and professional development very seriously.

Over the last ten years, I have incorporated a regular yoga practice in my life, which helps me to maintain balance and overall wellbeing. I have also recently begun to develop a mindfulness practice, which I believe helps me personally and professionally as I learn to become more present in my daily living and with the people I work with.

I work with individuals providing a warm, welcoming space, and I have had the privilege of supporting many people with concerns related to anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, stress, boundary-setting, and assertiveness. I draw from different therapeutic approaches (emotion-focused, EMDR, CBT, narrative, solution-focused) and I adapt my approach to best meet your needs.

It is an amazing experience to finally make sense of the things that have once eluded us, to develop the skills to manage life or past trauma more effectively, and to discover our strengths and hope. I feel so fortunate to get to do this every day and I look forward to accompanying you on your journey.
